Stamp-a-Faire: Ribbon Techniques Challenge

It's here! It's here! It's Stamp-a-Faire day with Papertrey Ink. Hope you all are feeling well rested and crafty, because it's going to be a fun day with lots to learn and do.

For my first blog post, I'm contributing to the Ribbon Techniques Challenge by working with my favorite style ribbon--Topnotch Twill.

You've heard me say on the forums that I'm not a huge fan of bow tying. Not that I don't think it is absolutely gorgeous and often completes a card, but because I'm all thumbs when tying bows! I've been doing this for eleven years now and those perfectly puffed bows remain elusive for me. Which is why I gravitate toward the Topnotch Twill so much because I've found that it often adds the perfect touch without needing a bow. Got to work with what you've got, right?

For my project this morning, I laid strips of Topnotch Twill behind the negative space left behind when using the Make a Wish Die Collection. To add a trendy touch, I took advantage of the shade trios PTI has in their color collection to make this tiered cake have an ombre color affect. You can see Soft Blush on the top tier, Autumn Rose in the middle, and Scarlett Jewel on the bottom. Looks good enough to eat, doesn't it? Lastly, I used the two different sized bows in the Boughs and Bells Die Collection and stamp set to almost hide the fact I'm working with a die cut negative. It looks like one continuous piece.

Make sure to check out my video on Nichole's blog  to see this card being created if you are interested in getting all the tips and tricks to make this ribbon technique work for you. Or you can just click play below and see it here.

  4. Erin, Bless you for taking the time to make a video for us while caring for your newborn! I love this technique - actually opened by eyes to more possibilities by filling in the negative area of any die cut with ribbon or DP. Thanks!
