Halloween Inspiration

Whooo Hoooo!!!! It's the Twilight Zone. You are indeed on my blog for the August Papertrey Ink Release. I'm technically still on maternity leave, but when a fun box of stamping goodies made it's way to my doorstep last week, I couldn't help but play along a little bit. So I'll have a few Halloween projects for you today and two cards for you on Release Day. What can I say? I just can't stop stamping. I'm genuinely addicted to the hobby, just like the lot of you.

First up, a "Make Your Own Pumpkin" kit to hand out to kids using Shape It Up: Pumpkin and the Pumpkin Section dies. I was inspired by those foam kits you get at Michael's. Usually they have upwards of 25 crafts per box. Sometimes you only need a few. You can use these dies to cut all the sections and the base to assemble on in the exact quantity that you desire. Give them  to the crafty kids in your life and they'll be less likely to toilet paper your house come All Hallow's Eve. Definitely a step up from the dentist handing out toothbrushes if you are looking for an alternative to candy.

I used a sealed envelope with the edge cut off as my packaging. BB: Herringbone (OMG....LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!) with a partial section of BB: Wrought Iron Fence are used to set the scene. I used the new Framed Up #7 die and stamp to house a sentiment from Mr. Bones. The pumpkin is also from Mr. Bones. I'm thrilled to have him in my stash.

Here's a shot of what is inside. All the pumpkin segments, stem, face, and a solid base. It's a puzzle for the kids to put together. But not too hard.

And lastly, here's a shot of what my pumpkin kit looks like put together. I busted out a ton of background stamps to make sure each segment was unique. Fun to do that.


Next up, I have a fun gift to give to the little girls in your life. My little Eliza Jane finally (FINALLY!!!) has enough hair to put up in pigtails. We top them with barrettes. The monster die from Happy Haunting just screamed out to me to be made into barrettes with felt and googly eyes. And so, I did! This will be a special gift left for her on her bedside table one night in October.

I stapled a piece of True Black Topnotch Twill to the bookmark die to hold the barrettes in place. The die was the only tag I had in my stash that would be long enough to accommodate both monsters and the sentiment. It's nice to have another use for it, aye? The sentiment is from Mr. Bones. A set of eyes from Happy Haunting just happens to fit nicely in the double o's in "Spooky".
