Background Basics: Striped Sweater Day 4

Before I get started, there's a group post today for Papertrey Ink featuring 2012 Holiday Tags. It's here on the blog, just the entry below this one. So if you are looking for it, just scroll your little mouse wheel down and you can't help but see it. But I do hope you hang out on this entry and see my BB: Striped Sweater and Shape Up Series: Mitten die projects for today. You know me, I've always got a little something up my sleeve.

I really like showing you how BB: Striped Sweater can be used for card other than winter holidays. It's a great fit for autumn cards as well. I teamed it up with BB: Houndstooth and BB: Herringbone on this card. They are all very autumnal in texture, don't you think? In fact, I think I need an outfit with all three of them. Framed Out #6 holds some acorns from Autumn Acorns (a fav!). I think the wood texture is a nice match. Sentiment is from Autumn Hills. Everything is stamped on Kraft cardstock and then mounted on Scarlet Jewel cardstock and Bitty Dot Patterned Paper in the same shade.

Notice anything on my card? I have a double and single stamped line of knit. But in the set, there's just the triple. With some selective inking, you can make that particular stamp work for you in a variety of ways.

There's plenty of space between the knit lines to only ink up one or two knit lines with ease.

And stamp! Versatility right at your fingertips. I really like that you can leave just the one stamp on your block and get so many different looks.

If you want to see selective inking in action, I have this Make It Monday YouTube Tutorial from a few years ago. The products are different, but you can totally get the idea. Take a look and before you know it, you might be making things like this...

Those Limeade Ice stripes in the middle? Totally selectively inked. Completely new look, right?  I used the new 2012 Holiday Tags and Super Stripes here too.

Somebody asked in a comment a few days ago if the two cuts of the new Shape Up Series: Mitten die could be sewed together to hold a little gift. I went ahead and did that today out of Blueberry Sky and Limeade Ice felt.

Now here's a way to add a different look to your mitten. The cuff is cut with the Shape Up Series: Cupcake die. It's the cupcake wrapper. Fun, huh?

The holly in Aqua Mist felt is from the new release. It matches up with Mistletoe & Holly from last month.

One more day until Shape Up Series: Mitten, Background Basics: Striped Sweater, and the Striped Sweater Impression Plate are released at Papertrey Ink on October 15. I've still got one more day of projects. Got any requests about what you'd like to see? I'm open to suggestions.

  1. Oh, that mitten is so darn cute. I wanted to get it to make some cards but now I think I need some extra felt to CASE your mitten.
