Knit Bits and Day 5 of Party Poppers
I'm not sure what it is...this time of year, the desire to keep little heads and hands to keep warm, or all the stamping I did last month with Background Basics: Striped Sweater...but I've been itching to put fingers to fiber and settle in with some needle crafts as of late. And then I saw the November 2012 Papertrey Ink preview with Knit Bits, Purls of Wisdom, and Handle With Care and my fate was sealed. I've been a knitting fool. And have you seen my Pinterest board? I'll get to all of these in the next week or two...I'm sure of it. As soon as I take a break from the stamping. :)
I did get a pair of knitted fingerless mitts knit this past week with some gorgeous yarn my mom brought me back from a trip to New England a few years ago. I call these my Hurricane Sandy Mitts because that's when I made them. The yarn is variegated with Winter Wisteria, Melon Berry, and Autumn Rose tones. It was so very easy to get my color inspiration for two tags to go with them...if I was gifting them. :) I'm hanging onto these myself. Are you kidding me? :)
For my first tag, I took the knitted piece and needle and placed it on the bottom half of a Limitless Layers 1.75" Circle die. It just spans the width. I used a sentiment from the upcoming Purls of Wisdom (love that name!) and selectively inked it in Plum Pudding to go in top half of the die. It's matted on a scalloped Melon Berry circle. I wanted the whole circle element to stand in for a ball of yarn, so I have two knitting needles sticking out of the top, just like if they were placed in a ball to keep them together. I stamped BB: Striped Sweater (perfect match) on Tag Sale #4.
The second tag has the care instructions using Handle With Care. I am buying at least five of these sets to give out as gifts to the fabric/fiber lovers in my life. It is so practical for the gifts they make and give away. I used the smaller two dies from Tag Sale #7 and matted them on Tag Sale #4. Goes to show you that they are interchangeable.
Next up a card. I go to my happy place when I see balls of yarn together. I wanted to create that on my card. I stamped and masked until I had this lovely jumble on the bottom of my panel. A sentiment from Purls of Wisdom reinforces the peaceful and meditative place knitting and crochet can take you. The base of the card has the cable knitted strip stamped repeatedly. Sigh. Gotta go knit. Like now.
But before I do, how about one last Party Popper project? I wanted to explore what I had in my stash that would work with the three rectangular pattern blocks that are supposed to make up the middle of the poppers. It was like Fillable Frame #9 was made for them. I'm particular fond of the mini chevron pattern stamped in Pure Poppy. All three sentiments are from Party Poppers and are stamped in Dark Chocolate.Die cut buttons cut from the upcoming Buttoned Up add in to the fun. Hope your mind is full of possibilities when it comes to all the options Party Popper holds. It's more than just Christmas Crackers for sure.

ReplyDeleteAwesome projects and I had to go peek at your Pinterest site and follow. I love knitting but mostly crochet gifts myself. Cute cards and I love the mitts! I recommend Ravelry as a source for knitting and crochet pattern ideas. There's a message board to see other's finished work, ask questions, and there are lots and lots of patterns (some free and some to buy). I love to knit too and use Ravelry all the time to find patterns.
