Introducing Polka Dot Parade #3

Hiya Papertrey Peeps! Day 1 of the April Countdown and I'm blogging to show you a few projects using the latest edition of Melissa's Polka Dot Parade. This month we have a fun recliner and vintage style television for Father's Day. Lots of possibilities there. (Although I've got to say, this mama enjoys her fair share of sitting in the recliner watching her favorite television shows too.)

Let's jump right into showing you want you can do with this fun set.

In searching for inspiration, I typed in "vintage television" in Pinterest. I got some images of televisions with the color bars on the screen for "emergency broadcasts". That's all the inspiration I needed to come up with this card. I stamped stripes from Faux Ribbon in my focal point television to create rainbow stripes. The smiley face was created from Get to the Point to match up with the sentiment from Hello, Friend. (Love the sentiments in Hello Friend, so cheeky and fun). I really wanted the rainbow television to pop, so I stuck with black and white with the rest of my card. The polka dots  from Maile's new Sketched Shapes reminded me of static, which I felt was appropriate in this case. And 50's style sparkles got pulled from Birthday Bash Sentiments to match up with the vintage style television. I've got a nephew who needs to find this card in his mailbox soon.

Next up, I wanted to use the recliner and matching die as intended. It's easy to imagine Dad sitting back and enjoying his favorite shows. The "Happy Father's Day" is from World's Greatest.

I did some pretty tricky masking to get the individual letters of the word "relax" in the television screens without cutting the stamp apart. Here's a little visual to show you how to do the same thing on your projects.

And lastly, I wanted to change the recliner up a bit so you could use any pattern paper you want with it.

I created this little scene by busting out my Lighten Up stamps and dies. Perfect scale and match. Maybe Melissa had that in mind:). Clever girl. And just like at my house, there's a taupe throw tossed over the recliner. BB: Striped Sweater helped me accomplish that detail. You are also getting a glimpse of Heather's new Wonderful Words: Memories die and stamp that are being released this month.
