Introducing Ruby Rose

Welcome back to the second day of group posts for Papertrey Ink. Today we are featuring Dawn's beautiful  Ruby Rose set and dies. I'm really pleased with how my projects turned out, which is really a testament to how nicely Dawn designed them. They have all the right elements of whimsy, beauty, and ease. I'm sure you'll find them to be every bit as enchanting and a joy to work with as I do.

I choose an inspiration piece for both projects. I was inspired by the combination of black and pastels on this print.

First up, I have this striking card in pastel tones set off nicely against True Black. I'm loving this color combination--Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, Soft Blush, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, and just a wee touch of Pure Poppy. The leaves and flower centers are some of the favorites that I've ever seen and I'm sure to be pulling them out to mix and match with other sets. Just the right amount of personality.

A close up of my focal point. I stamped the Mat Stack 5 stamp from Modern Wood Mats directly on my Aqua Mist background in Ocean Tides ink. Black leaves and "Baby's Breath" (from Peaceful Garden) set off my flowers nicely. The black really pulls it all together.

For my second inspiration piece, I picked this one. I like the use of blues (Blueberry Sky and Aqua Mist) with just a touch of pink (Hibiscus Burst).

Looks like the link to where this one was originally posted is a bit hard to find. So here's the Pinterest link instead.

We were challenged to make a stamped background with the elements. I did just that in shades of Blueberry Sky, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, and Hibiscus Burst. I stamped all over that with a pattern from BB: Tin Types in Enchanted Evening. Sort of pulls everything together and balances out my Enchanted Evening card base and sentiment.

And speaking of sentiments, how about the angle on this one? There are some design possibilities there. The first one that came to mind was to put in a corner and angle the panel with the same lines. So easy and effortless.

Thanks for joining me today! See you back tomorrow with the rest of my projects. In the meantime, check out some more Ruby Rose projects on the rest of the PTI  blogs.

  4. Fabulous cards -- really like the way your background turned out on the 2nd card, and the use of the wood grain mat on the first one really sets the flowers off.
