It's a Banner Day

I think the new Banner Builder stamp set and dies will go down in stamping history as one of the best sets ever to be designed. The entire product line has gone straight to the top of my favorite list. Nichole thought of everything. EVERYTHING. And for you die lovers, you are going to be all over these. So many options. I can't stop raving about it.

Let's get down to business, shall we? First up a card. Hank's going to a birthday party tomorrow and I made a card for his little friend Emme. I wanted to do something different, so I went with using the little flags with the double ended banner die. If you just wanted the flag part, it would be easy to snip off. This time, however, I decided to place my sentiments (Get The Point Additions) just past the flags in this example, and cut off the other end of the banner. I was deliberately going for a hodge podge look. Fun stuff.

Just to pass on one of my favorite things about all the small dies in this collection--they work so well on scraps because of their small size.  Very economical. I've been keeping all my itty bitty scraps since I discovered that little tidbit. Imagine making a fabulous banner card for a mere 15 cents? Totally possible.

Here's a close up of Dawn's new Signature Series: Cupcake. I die cut and stamped it twice, cut the Dark Chocolate cupcake in half and used it as the liner. A little red scallop strip helps define it more.

Now onto the big party banners. Dream come true. With little kids running around, I find it to be a great deal of fun to decorate for all the holidays. Hank saw my Thanksgiving themed banner today and said, "Mom made that". Creates such magic for them, know what I mean? Going to be easy to keep it up with these banner dies in my arsenal.

The flags are made up of a felt base layer and then a paper topper and border. Yards of Scor-Tape made this all possible, adhering the flags to a long stretch of Scarlett Jewel Topnotch Twill on the back. Between the flags, I pulled out some of the large buttons in my button packs to use. Great way to put those to work for you, because some of them might be too big for a card.

I did stamp the flags with Background Basics: Text Style for some interest, but otherwise left them blank so the color alone would suggest the holiday. On the edges, I put clusters of greenery from Leaf Prints and First Fruits.

Be sure to check out what everybody else is up to...if I haven't convinced you to jump in the deep end, they most certainly will. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Erin - I just wanted to say I love the banner you made with the fall colors. I almost always see banners with letters and lots of extras, and they are cute. But I love, love, love the simplicity of the solid warm colors and buttons with the new banner trims. It looks perfect over the fireplace with your fall decor. Thanks for the inspiration!!
