Hello Sunshine!

Welcome to Group Post Night #1 for the June Release of Papertrey Ink. Tonight we are featuring the very requested and often anticipated sun ray set called Hello Sunshine and matching Sunrise Impression Plate. It's a great set with lots of possibilities and the most spot-on uplifting sentiments. You'll love to use it to send a little sunshine in the mail.  Let's jump right into it, shall we?

Turning to Pinterest for inspiration, I went with something a little nontraditional with a focus more on the geometry of the sun rays. All inspired by this gorgeous backgammon board (which is now on my wish list).  Original source can be found here.

The long triangles and multiple colors was something I wanted to pull into my project. It ended up looking something like this. Very nontraditional when you think of blue skies and sunshine, but you walk away with that impression anyway.

The clouds and black starburst acting like a sun help give the suggestion, even with the Hawaiian Shores button. I used both die cut pieces of cardstock joining with a ray stamp to move your eyes across the card.

Next up, a little Impression Plate loving. I have some difficulty getting photos of the Impression Plates in use, so bare with me. It's there, trust me!

To carry over the geometry theme, I impressed three pieces of cardstock (Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, and Simply Chartreuse) with the new Sunshine Impression Plate. I used the ray impressions as a cutting guide to make this three tone background without any hassle or thought on my part. Just line up a ruler and cut.

Yep...there really is an impression plate there. It's gorgeous in real life.

And how about a close up of that sun? Notice the sentiment placement is the same as the vertical card. I thought it was too good to use only once. I used both Limitless Labels Circles in 1.75" and 2.5" to achieve this look of a circle within a circle. The buttons fit in the grooves for some unexpected texture that matches the background. The center bulls eye is from Hello Sunshine and the outer circle stamp is from Take Note.

Hope you enjoyed my projects today. I'll be back tomorrow with some more fun stuff. In the meantime, in between time, check out the PTI blogs for further Hello Sunshine inspiration.

  1. Love the modern interpretation of your first card. It definitely gives off a sunshine vibe without having a literal sun on it. And the second card is wonderful - love all those colors together - such a happy card.
