Mighty Oak

It's the last day of the Papertrey Ink August countdown and I'm back with some beautiful and rich color schemes to match up with Nichole's new Mighty Oak stamp set and Mighty Oak Cover Plate. Both are absolutely gorgeous products. Puts me right into the fall mood.

My first project features both the stamp set and cover plate. Holy heat embossing Batman! I die cut the cover plate out of scratch paper and laid that over a piece of Dark Chocolate cardstock. I think used the openings in my scratch paper to place Versamark leaves and tree trunk. I heat embossed in clear power once I removed my scratch paper mask. Then cut the cover plate again out of Canyon Clay and glued it in place, allowing all that beautiful heat embossing to show. I love how it is both graphic and detailed at the same time. All those different shaped leaves give you so many options.

The sentiment from Might Oak was heat embossed in white. A little heart from Love Lives Here collection hangs from cream colored button twine.

Next up, I used just the leaves in this feather arrangement. A few of PTI's stamp sets have line images, like the one I used for my stem from Green Thumb, so I'm sure you can find something in your stash to work the same way. I choose to stamp an ombre look in shades of Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile, Raspberry Fizz, and Scarlet Jewel.

This sentiment from Basket of Blessings (also an August release) was heat embossed in gold on Dark Chocolate cardstock. All ready to be sent out for Thanksgiving.

And how about one more coffee cozy before the release is over? I couldn't resist.

I cut two of the larger sized halves of the Coffee Cozy Collection dies out of Raspberry Fizz felt. I ironed on fabric cuts from Beautiful Bloom #1 dies. They are easy to run through your die cut machine with clean cuts if they have Heat-N-Bond on the back. Great way to utilize other dies in your collection.

Soft Stone buttons are hot glued on the front. Easy piesy.

That's it for me today. I'll have all my release projects up tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the kind words and enthusiasm this month over the coffee cozy product line. Makes me happy to know you are happy! Remember, the release products will all be available on August 15th at www.papertreyink.com.

  2. Heat embossing is the coolest way to see the pattern in these leaves. Fabulous card, Erin. Your other Mighty Oak project today inspires and challenges me to "doodle" more with my stamps...look for the ways to use them that I don't quickly see. I'm crazy about the new coffee cozy dies. Thanks again for adding beauty to my life!

  20. I don't understand how you achieved the embossed look with your leaves. Can you explain what is meant by scratch paper and how you did these step by step? Thank you kindly.
