Day 1 of the August Release

Hello Everybody? Are you ready for a fabulous week? I've got so much to show you. Lots of items coming your way from Chapter 3 Designs at Papertrey Ink. Let's just get going. I'm sure you'd much rather see the new goodies in action as quickly as possible.

I've got a new batch of Seasonal Stitches dies coming your way this week for your fall projects. Today I'll be focusing on the school themed ones and how they coordinate with previously released stitching products such as the Coin Purse, Sew Simple Alphabet 1 & 2, and the Clever Barrette Die.

Here we've got the Seasonal Stitches: Pencils and Seasonal Stitches: Notebook Paper dies at work on the Coin Purse Dies. The pencil is long and skinny and sized just so to fit on the long version of the coin purse. Four different detail dies (lead, wood, eraser holder, and eraser) are separate dies so you can add lots of detail.

The Seasonal Stitches: Notebook Paper Die Collection is a great way to compliment your school projects. I put a lot of thought into the sizing. It comes with two dies: one fits nicely on the short side of an A2 card and the other on the long side. It is also sized to perfectly fit the Sew Stylish Alphabet 1 dies, as you can see her on this Smokey Shadow Coin Purse. Great way to personalize a project.

One of the fantastic things about the Stitching Dies is how well they work on both paper and felt. Twice the value for your money. I've taken the longer of the two Seasonal Stitches: Notebook Paper dies and cut it twice along the long side of an A2 card. You get a good idea of the sizing here. Now, instead of using floss and stitching this all up, I opted for the quick and easy way of "faking it". I simply sharped up my colored pencils and used a straight edge to add the faux stitching detail here. This could not have been faster or more simple.

I choose to use the Bookprint Alphabet Upper and Lower Case dies to add my ABC's in colored cardstock. Apple Prints stamps and dies and the Back To School stamp set helped me finish off my card in style. One of my favorite cards this release.

Next up, we have a card that features the Seasonal Stitches: Apples Die Collection. I wanted to explore ways to add just a little touch of stitching to projects. The projects certainly go together a great deal quicker this way. And secondly, a "little" is all you need to make a truly special card. On this card, I stamped three apples from Apple Prints along the bottom of my card. Instead of stamping a fourth, I die cut and stitched a half apple out of Pure Poppy Felt. They compliment each other nicely.

You are probably well aware of how fond I am of the original stitching die that started this all--the Clever Barrette Covers. I continue to try to find opportunities to "add in" ways to stitching the new Seasonal Stitches Dies onto the barrette. In this case, the vertical line on the inside of the white apple slice has a coordinating hole die so you can accomplish just that. Also of note, the white part and apple seeds are included in the Seasonal Stitches: Apple Die Collection so you can change up your apples as you wish.

I got a Home Decorators Catalog in the mail this week and was instantly smitten with this colored pencil print. I held myself back a total of three hours before I ordered it for Eliza's room. It is perfect for her hot air balloon and rainbow theme. I was inspired by it, that I created this gift set using the Seasonal Stitches: Pencils Die Collection.

I personalized this traditional sized coin purse for a little girl I know and hope to give it to her before school starts. I cut partial cuts of the pencils in a rainbow of felt colors. I opted NOT to use to coordinating holes only die to add holes directly to the coin purse. Instead. I lined up my colored pencils on my die cut cutting platform and used the edge of the Coin Purse Die to cut holes along the bottom. Stitching up the coin purse was therefore a cinch, even with the overlap of additional elements. And I  managed to muddle through without the extra stitching holes:).  The "M" is from Sew Stylish Alphabet 1.

The coordinating card is more directly inspired by the colored pencil print. I cut six pencils out of the Seasonal Stitches: Pencil Dies. I used my watercolor pencils and a watercolor brush to add color and detail. Like the Seasonal Stitches: Notebook Paper Die card above, I want this to have a "faux stitched" look, so I ran a darker shade of colored pencil along the holes with the help of a straight edge.

OK. That's a wrap for today. I've got more dies to show you tomorrow. :)

All these new products and more are available at www.papertreyink.com on August 15th at 10 PM EST. I hope you love them as much as I do!

  10. I haven't gotten on the coin purse bandwagon, so I usually just pass by the stitching dies. Today, though, the apple caught my eye and drew me in. It is so very sweet... and tempting. I might have to start calling you Eve.
