A couple favorite baby things...

We had the video about all the baby crap that you don't really need a month or so ago. How about a post about two awesome baby things that I'm finding indispensable?

First off, the Puj tub. Pronounced "pudge", which is appropriate for my 12.5 pound butter bean. I made Matt bathe Hank as a newborn because I was so afraid. Floppy baby and open sink/tub just made me nervous. Upgraded this time around to this origami foam foldy tub thingy that fits in any sink. I can confidently bathe her now without having to worry. It supports the babe so well and has holes in the bottom so you can have a constant stream of water flowing over them. Eliza LOVES her baths because of it. Never a whimper, but rather a happy baby look the whole time. We've got it in our kitchen sink here with a colander underneath to raise it up a bit.

Second, for those looking for a stroller and planning another kid down the line. I did my research a few years ago and decided on a Phil&Ted's because it is so easy to convert to a double. Used it for two years with Hank and felt rather silly. It is a bit on the pricey side and until recently, I forgot why I got it in the first place. The initial day out with both kids and I remembered why nothing else would do back in the day. The jump seat snaps in so easily and I have a couple option for using it. For now, Hank's in the jump seat above a reclining Eliza in the main seat. Once she starts sitting up better, the jump seat snaps in underneath the main seat and both kids can be in more of an upright position. Either way equals freedom for Mommy. Can go anywhere now.

Lastly, Matt got a brilliant idea and had it all taken care of without even asking me (sometimes that's the best way)...he bought a cheapie second changing table for the first floor. I use it more than the nursery one. Just so much more convenient than hauling her upstairs.  Wish we had done this the first time.

And absolutely unrelated to baby, but something cool none the less, Bemz. A third party slipcover company that has options for every single IKEA upholstered item in existence. Total expands your options. I have a lot of IKEA stuff and will definitely be ordering.

Happy weekend!

  1. So glad to hear things are going well. What a cool bathtub thingy! I went the ultra cheap route and got nothing. :0 I just kept a few inches in the tub and away we went. Also, I totally agree about having a second changing station on the first floor. I just kept a changing pad, wipes, and diapers all in a basket in the corner and used that about 95% of the time instead of running all the way upstairs. Makes a huge difference. That little Eliza is sure a cutie patootie. :)

  3. Love those little feet peeking out of the stroller and the sweet smile on Hank's face. They sure didn't have these innovative products when my kids were small.

  4. Thanks for the tip about Bemz---I was just looking at my chair that my dog has decided should be hers and it's AWFUL---almost to the embarrassing place. My chair isn't Ikea---put perhaps something will work--I'll look into it. This may save the day! THanks so much. Your girl is a doll---I just married my first one off and I can't believe she is that old---(certainly, I'M not old enough to be a mother in law!) Have a great day!

  9. I am a total Phil and Teds girl myself and I got the skiphop bag that fits right on the side for diapers. Here is a link to the diaper pad that I use ... it is great and I carry it everywhere and it looks like it is brand new http://www.patemm.com/ and I also love these slippers .....http://www.nowali.com/category_s/3.htm my kiddies have never been able to get these off and here in NY they need warm feet. Another thing that I could not have ever lived without and I give as gifts all the time is Signing Time ...... it is a DVD collection to teach children how to sign ..... check it out!!!
