Birthday Cards & Tags

Welcome back for another wonderful PTI group post night. We're featuring two new birthday sets (Big Birthday Wishes and 2011 Birthday Tags) as well as some fun new dies. I'm completely jazzed to have some new product to use for birthday cards. It's my number one card making occassion. Between all of tonight's fun products, I'm well covered for a variety of ages and types of people, big and small.  There's a lot of  bang for your buck in what is being featured. That Nichole, she thinks of everything.

Once again, like last night, I've created a card and tag combo with  my little guy Hank in mind. He's all about knowing his numbers and how old he's going to turn (3!) this year, so this is perfect. Remember when adding a number was something we looked forward too? Hee Hee! Nowadays, we are all trying to subtract them. I'm hoping my next birthday card says 29.

I went hog wild on the die cuts on both these projects. When you add it all up, the card has seven layers! Sounds crazy, but it is so easy when using dies. They just accumulate on you when you aren't looking. The result is so dimensional and impressive, however. Better than anything you could find in the store. For sure.

I started out with the big Boxy Banner die cut in Spring Rain. Next came an Orange Zest star (Seeing Stars die collection), a zig zag circle and a regular 1.75" circle from the Limitless Layers. The outlined polka dot pattern in a new 1/75" stamp from the 2011 Birthday Tags set (being released next week). Great layering piece. Next, another star in Pure Poppy and texturized with the new By the Numbers Impression Plate being released on the 15th. And lastly, in Simply Chartreuse, a number 3 (sniff sniff) cut from the new By the Numbers Die Collection. Love the font.

Representing the "Big Birthday Wishes" set on this card  is the "Look Who's" sentiment. In reality, it is two stamps, 1) Look and 2)Who's Turning... (yep, three trailing dots, not a typo on my part). I selectively stamped what I wanted on two ends of the double border die from the November release and added sticks from Banner Builders. Been wanting to do this with the banners/stars since I got them. Glad I had a project that allowed me to use my idea

The sentiment nestled below the stars is from the 2011 Birthday Tags as well. Really just to balance it all out. Not like the kid can read:). HA!

For my tag, I was itching to put the new Shape Up Series: Cupcake into use. Exceeded my expectations. So cute.  I used the Sunshine Impression Plate to add some yumminess to the "frosting".

A shaped card can sometimes be a challenge for sentiment placement (or at least for me). I was pleased to see how well the new Tag Sale 3 die fit on top without taking away from the cupcake shape. You'll notice all my little embossed holes are punched out. Total two-fer, my peeps. I cut the tag out of vellum. Not being as thick as the PTI cardstock, those dots just needed a little poking and prodding with a needle tool to pop on out. Nice border, don't you think? I finished up the tag with another sentiment from the 2011 Birthday Tags set and my 3 emblem from the card. It makes me happy to look at.

OK. If you are here at midnight of the 13th, envision me in bed wearing my purple flannel penguin pajamas, nestled all up cozy in the covers with my super hot..... iPad (gotcha!), checking out what all the girl's are up to, 'cause that's what I'll be doing.  Here's some clickity-clicks so you can blog hop too. Thanks for stopping by!
