...run with it. The whole card/gift thing I did with the Alpha-blocks stamps is officially and permanently in my box of tricks, to be pulled out and used for future occasions. Sure, there might be some alterations and modifications, but it is here to stay. Wanna see the direction I took it for a baby gift? Read on.
My little girl has a HUGE noggin. (There might have been a CT scan and a trip to the local childrens' hospital to figure that all out. Nothin' she won't grow out of in a few years, fortunately.) The headbands I had bought for her at Wal-Mart never fit. There were several I still had in packaging, unused, unloved. Now, I also have girlfriend with a new baby girl--one who has a cute little head. Time to make a few headbands with PTI dies and felt.
I used a glassine bag to serve as my envelope. Got to decorate it on the outside so it matches the gift inside.
Here's close up of the card. Using Background Basics: Botanicals, appropriate phrases from Button Boutique, and Label Basics to stamp up my project. Refer to my original post on it linked above for the construction details.
Sweet little message inside. I can't tell you have pleased I am that I can make something so personal, yet professional looking with my craft supplies. Very gratifying. I see myself pulling out this little gift from time to time in the future. Hoping I can find some stretchy lace elastic so I can even make the headbands from scratch.
Thanks for stopping by. Got any questions let me know.

VERY cute! I love that you used a little glassine bag instead of an envelope.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun and beautiful gift! I love the headbands and the card/gift idea is great!
ReplyDeleteHi Erin,

Hugs, Wendy
Love this! How did you attach the felt flowers to the elastic? Stitching? Glue?
ReplyDeleteCute Erin. You say she has a big head???? Maybe it's cause she is storing all her moms creative ideas in there for later use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a cutie
ReplyDeleteVery cool! My little girl never fit into the walmart head bands, either, LOL! And to make matters worse, she was born with no hair... Where did you find the plain headbands. All of the ones that I can find already have something attached to them...just curious ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I found the wider elastic stuff on a roll at Wal Mart where they keep all their ribbons in the sewing section... it's a lot wider than the ones you've made (I have those ones too, so I know how wide they are), but it would go well with large scaled blooms! What a great gift, and I love how you packaged them :)
