A real quick blogpost this morning...the kids are still sleeping! Aw, sweet peace in the AM.
I think this might be my favorite because it is so different than what I usually do. I got to thinking about that Menhdi Medallion set. All those painted elephants in India. And just happen to have a new elephant die. Perfect. Gold shimmer paper was a must. And although that's suppose to be a little tie of string for a reminder (because elephants never forget), I'll acknowledge that it might just look a little bit like a mustache.
Gracious Vases. Sure they are suppose to be vases. But they make festive party lanterns too, especially when colored. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that Menhdi Medallion in black on kraft cardstock.
Rhythm & Soul. I've always seen birds with guitars on posters. So there you go. OK. I'm trying to decide what my next MIM video is going to be. Do you want it to be the technique where you 1)reverse mask like I did with this guitar or...
...2)use two different color inks on one image like I did on this Tag-its #5 card? Let me know by Friday morning!:) The rounded rectangle is actually the extra piece created when you die cut the new beach tote, btw. Possibilities.
Daydreamer. I liked how the quote fit in the seed packet die. A few of them do, actually.
And lastly, It's a Jungle Out There. I love these little flash cards. A little technique-y note on how I created the color and pattern on them. I cut a sunburst with my Silhouette and used it as a mask. After I applied a good deal of ink with a Tim Holtz Ink Applicator thingy, I removed the mask and went over it again. Same color, different shading because the places with ink already just got darker. And lastly, I used the same ink pad to stamp Library Ledger. So you've got three different shades of color with just one ink pad. Possibly thinking this might be a good MIM video too.
Have a good Thursday! Matt and I have a much needed date with friends tonight at a nice restaurant. I've got a dress and heels to wear. Can't wait!
These are wonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteReverse masking would be fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the color scheme in your elephant card. Paired with the mehndi, it has a nice exotic feeling.
And the alphabet cards are genius. Love the subtle layers of texture behind the die cut images.
Wow! your card is beautiful! I like the one in the 4th photo.

Please do the reverse mask Erin!!!! Great cards. I love the flashcard concept.
ReplyDeleteLove them all Erin!!! Thanks to you again for sharing your wonderful creations!
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration Erin!! I would have to say the reverse mask technique for MIM.
ReplyDeleteErin you are so good at thinking outside the box and repurposing your stamps. You never cease to amaze me with your creativity. Love seeing all the creative things you come up with. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
ReplyDeleteWould you think I was greedy if I said that I would like a MIM with each of the techniques you outlined? There are 52 weeks in the year, right, so you probably need lots of ideas. I'm most interested in seeing how you get two different colors of ink on the same stamp immediately!
ReplyDeleteOh, that elephant - and those beautiful lanterns!! So creative, Erin. You are a constant inspirition to me! I'd like to learn the reverse mask technique too :).
ReplyDeleteI have to say the first 2 cards make me want to put on my belly dancing scarf and shake my hips............. AMAZING ........ you are so darn creative!!!
ReplyDeleteJust incredible, Erin.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that kraft card with the medallion in white and the pop of red!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joyce ~ all three techniques would be perfect for future MIM videos. Super job on all these cards. They are all so very different. Upside down vases for lanterns is absolutely brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAwesome inspiration! I love how you used the vases as lanterns! and the card with the flash cards is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tammy and Kathy Mc! I am amazed by how you turned the vases upside down and turned them into something so cute and inspired! You always come up with great ideas, Erin, but that is something above and beyond!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those sunbursts! Def an awesome MIM idea! In the meantime, since not everyone has a die-cutting machine with a sunburst, could you possibly suggest a sunburst stamp to Nichole? I've seen one at Market Street stamps that I keep contemplating but it's always sold out and I'd rather buy PTI. I know Up, Up & Away has a distressed sun and rays but the scale is too small...
ReplyDeleteThx, Erin! Lovely projects!
Well my computer crashes, I can't find the link to your site, have temporary brain freeze and look at what you've created!! I'm astounded, flabbergasted, speechless (not quite, lol!) but truly you never ever cease to amaze me, Erin. If I could have just a drop of your creativity...
