Hey Everybody! Welcome back today for my contribution to the Papertrey Ink's June Countdown activities. I've been giving the duty and the privilege of showing you some projects with Melissa's Floral Fusion #5 and Alli's Communique Curves Think Big Favorites #5. I found both sets had a surprisingly huge amount of "play" in them. In fact, I didn't use a single Think Big Favorites sentiment as it was intended at face value. Pretty pleased with some of the stuff I discovered. Hopefully you'll agree that this little $5 set is a real bargain and fun to play with as well.
First of all, I don't have the Communique Curves stamp and sentiment stamps, so this was a real delight for me to work with something new. Of course, I think they'll both be coming home to me here some time soon. :) The Think Big Favorites #5 has two sentiments from the original set (congrats and thank you), blown up big to become more of a focal point for your projects.
Let's start out with a thank you project. The elegance of the font used reminded me of Fancy Flourishes. Could the two be used together? You bet. I just stamped a florish to extend the loop of the "y" in "you". You'd never know it was more than one stamp. Just FYI if you are going to do this on your own, the "y" has a little hook that would interfere with the flow of the flourish. Just ink up the sentiment and use your pinky finger to remove that little extra tail. Then add the flourish in the right spot for a seamless melding of the two.
I also used Floral Fusion #5 on this card. I found it fits nicely inside stamps and dies from Beautiful Blooms II. I've taken note and jotted this combination in my idea file. Will be doing it again.
Moving on to the other sentiment "Congrats". I selectively inked the "C" to be slightly more spaced away from the "grats". My "o" is now a button which just happens to be the center of the flower from a Blooming Button Bits stamp.
I choose to make the "o" an actual button. The other "buttons" on my card are die cut and stamped in a gingham pattern. This little design decision adds interest to the card, but gives focus to the actual sentiment. Your eyes are naturally drawn to it. And I always love how the sentiments from Floral Fusions seem to team up with the Think Big Favorites. This month is not the exception. "You're the best" works well here underneath the big bold "congrats".
And lastly, how about joining the two sentiments to make a third? Tricky, tricky. Selectively ink up the "thank" from "thank you" and stamp. Next just ink up the "s" from the end of "congrats". Combine them for a more casual "thanks".
The lines in the sentiment from the new Floral Fusion #5 set (it's the little things you do that mean so much!) seemed to curve down in justification. That little hint lead me down the path to stamping it on the Limitless Layers 2.5" dies. Love it when it works out that way.
Thanks for swinging by. More projects coming. And be sure to check out new projects from Nichole, Melissa, Dawn, Heather, and Maile tonight as well.

Fabulously creative, Erin. After all the PTI Radio episodes, I now "hear" your voice in your posts. When you wrote that you didn't use any of the Think Big sentiments as is, though, I couldn't imagine how you could've changed them. You cards are perfect and inspiring. Thanks for expanding my thinking!
ReplyDeleteOh my word! This whole post is awesome - your creativity is astounding! I cannot wait to place my order and try everything I've seen here; and not just your stamp combinations/alterations, which alone are exciting, but also your layouts and colors. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteGreat work again Erin...thank you for more inspiration!

ReplyDeleteYour cards are just so beautiful!! I love the scarlet jewell ink on the pink cardstock, the button for the o in congrats, the floral fusion flower inside of the beautiful blooms flower (thanks for that idea: i'll be using that one too!), and your blue Thanks card is just so perfectly laid out. And last, but not least, I love seeing your picture with you and your baby every time I visit your blog. I can just SEE the love between you and your baby in that pic, and it warms my heart: it is so precious!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous layout and colors in your blue thanks card. Just love it. Love the think big set and leaf die.
