Introducing Mega Mehndi Medallion

I can't tell you how many times I have checked that I'm spelling "Mehndi" right! Giggle. I don't even know how to pronounce it to be truthful. But I do know that this style of artwork makes some beautiful stamps for your projects!

I'm here tonight to show you a trio of projects using the new Mega Mehndi Medallion from Papertrey Ink. The images are the same as the $5 set, only bigger. I decided to go all in and take all my inspiration from India. Bright colors and chaotic patterns most notably. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

My first card features decreasing apertures and ZING! colored embossing powder. I used both the original Mehndi Medallion and the new Mega sized, taking turns stamping Versamark on colored cardstock and embossing in bold and bright colors.

I used my Spellbinders circle dies to cut out the middles, decreasing with each layer I added to the bottom. I really love the bright, colorful effect. Stick pins topped with a red pearl and gems add to the exotic look.

Just a quick run down so you know the colors per layer:

Aqua embossing powder on Summer Sunrise cardstock
Lavender embossing powder on Raspberry Fizz cardstock
Red embossing powder on Spring Rain cardstock
White embossing powder on Royal Velvet cardstock

For my second project, I went for the embossing powder again, but on more of an one layer card. Using just two stamp (a medium sized medallion and a sentiment), you can really get a great look if you focus on color and technique. Three medallions are highlighted with embossing powder and the rest are simply stamped in Versamark.

And lastly, I took an inspiration piece off of Pinterest and recreated with my stamps. Please forgive me, I went looking for it tonight and could't bring it up. It was an image of five types of pattered paper, lined up together. Nothing really matched, colors were all weird when taken individually, but together, they had a certain harmony and balance. It was fun to bust out all sorts of different stamp sets to recreate the look. I'd imagine this is the type of card you'd give somebody who wears zebra print and pink patent leather flats--just has that funky vibe to me.

Thanks for stopping by tonight. I'll be back in the next few days with Group Projects. Be sure to check Dawn's, Nichole's, Heather's, Maile's, and Betsy's blogs tonight for more previews.
