Mat Stack 5 Collection

Hey Everybody! Welcome back for the first night of the group posts for the January 2012 Papertrey Ink Release. I know a lot of you have been waiting for the Mat Stack 5 stamp set to arrive. It does not disappoint. I find it to be a little different from the Mat Stack 1-4 Collections because of the finagling that needed to be done in order to provide you with variety. The Mat Stack 5 die is a big'in, so the stamp set is comprised of lots of smaller elements that can be used to decorate the die cut, as well as two full sized frames. I created projects featuring each. Let's check them out.
Both projects together. Lovely. And EASY to make.

I used the new Front & Center #2 Die for my full sized frame project. I've seen lots of variation using this die during the countdown. Dawn made it into a card here and Nichole used the scalloped topper brilliantly here. I'm presenting another option for you, in order to get the most creative bang for your buck. I cut off two inches from the bottom of the panel to make a shorter gift bag. I wasn't anticipating it to look like a purse, but it sure does. Perfect to hold a PTI felt handmade brooch or necklace, don't you think?

The full sized frame I used has an oval opening instead of a circle, which is a first. It works well with the new Limitless Layers Oval die set. I used it here with a delicate and frilly stamp from Homemade Hodgepodge in Smokey Shadow.

Another feature of the new Front & Center die that I like is the flat bottom on the handle (the previous Front & Center 1 die had an oval opening). The flat bottom makes it really easy to add ribbon vertically to the bag front. Fillable Frames #7 die, Tag-its #12, and the new Block Uppercase letters make a little tag, that is attached with a clothes pin.

Onto my bits and pieces card, I had a lot of fun with this one. Adding stamps and colors came together effortlessly. The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages and I used the new Mega Mat Stack 5 and Mega Mat Stack 5 Layerz to create my focal point frame. This one is definitely a repeater for me. Why always reinvent the wheel, kwim? I'm glad I put down the Pure Poppy ink (yep, a rut I know I fall into) and explored some of these new ink colors.

Off to put the finishing touches on my Simply Jane project. See you back here tomorrow. In the meantime inbetween time, check out more Mat Stack 5 Collection projects at the PTI blogs.
