Beautiful Beads

Surprise!!! There's three group posts this month for Papertrey Ink. This morning we're creating with the Beautiful Bead die and paper collections that were included in the Stamp-A-Faire kits back in July, but are now available for all customers.

You probably know all the deets. The die cuts thin wedges that can be rolled to make paper beads (pretty sturdy come to find out) for jewelry making. The patterned paper that is being released with this die is of a lighter weight than the normal patterned paper, so it's easier to roll. Fun colors and patterns are designed by Heather Nichols.

Instead of making a bracelet with my paper beads, I had an idea of making a snowflake ornament. Couldn't shake it, had to do it. This is what I came up with. Uses the new Snowflake Medley stamp set and dies as well.

I went ahead and got a photo together of how this snowflake ornament looks on the inside. Basically you stick eight corsage pins (available at your local big box craft stores) into the foam of a thick, circular pop dot. The pot dot is sticky on both sides, allowing you to place the stamped snowflake die cut on the front and back, effectively hiding all the construction. How easy is that? Painless really.

Next up, a card using the paper and the dies. Sunburst/rays are super trendy and popular. This is an easy way to get some thin wedges. Not to mention extra uses out of that die. I felt like the combination of orange and pink in the patterned paper pack really helped me to step outside of my color comfort zone and do something fresh and new.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back at 7 AM EST (that's just an hour away for you early birds) with the rest of my release posts.

  9. Erin - I love that beaded snowflake. Was going to get the bead die and papers anyway, but now I'm really excited to make the snowflake! Thanks so much for the inspiration. This would make a super cute Christmas card with the snowflake hanging off of a stamped or die cut branch - for someone you wanted to give a little something to more than just a card. Love it.
