Fancy Folk Art

Alrighty, folks. the wait is almost over for the January 2012 Papertrey Ink Release. I've got one more group project to share with you using the amazing "Fancy Folk Art" stamps and dies. I've always loved the simple designs that look so complex in folk art motifs. They are certainly a joy to stamp because it seems like the creativity flows so easily as you create with them in mind. Glad we finally have a set that brings some of the classic shapes to fruition for all your crafting projects.

We were asked to choose an inspiration piece and I just happened to have this on in my inspiration folder at Pinterest. I liked the border of color in her shirt and was inspired to come up with my own version. I only wish I was equally inspired to work out so my legs would look like hers too!:)

This is the card I came up with. I cut the Aqua Mist frame and sentiment panel on my Silhouette. These simple shapes are easy to cut out of PTI cardstock on an electronic die cutter when you cut at your highest pressure setting. I certainly enjoyed the precision cut and was glad I didn't have to do it by hand.

I stamped the floral circle cluster repeatedly on an A2 sized piece of white cardstock. You can see that stamp in action here as well. Then I just went to town coloring in the floral motif with my Copics.  When I was done, I adhered the frame and the center sentiment portion on top.

Folk Art Motifs and gingham go hand in hand. Background Basics: Gingham was a natural choice when I wanted to add another pattern for interest. My focal point flower is made up of four smaller die cuts that I stamped in Pure Poppy or Hibiscus Burst and Enchanted Evening.

Next up, a tag. I die cut and stamped hearts from last month's Heart-2-Heart #11 in paper from the Berry Sorbert Patterned Paper Colletction. I alternated hearts and the stacked leaf from Fancy Folk Art on a Soft Blush cut of Tag Sale #2 and added a sentiment. And there's some gingham again...couldn't stop myself.

I'll be back tomorrow with the remainder of my release projects. In the meantime, check out what else is being created with this wonderful set. Remember, it and all the new products will be available on the 15th at www.papertreyink.com
