Introducing Big Ticket Basics

I've noticed a few people have narrowed down what's left to reveal today and tomorrow for the Papertrey Ink April Group Projects. Oh so right! Today we're featuring Big Ticket Basics, both the stamp set (which is FAB!) and the border die. I've got both a layout and a card to show you this morning.

First up a layout featuring my Sully Bear and Sassy Pants, back when they were just getting to know each other. I wish there was a stamp that says, "And now, the torture begins!". Oh man, does my girlie hang on her baby brother something fierce. All up in his grill, all the time. Poor kid. That Sassy Pants is a force to be reckoned with.

I used the ticket die to cut out two borders, one in Lavender Moon and the other in Spring Rain. The die itself isn't as long as 11 inches, but the sides are open so you can reposition and cut again.  The ticket strip that is created is large enough to hold all sorts of goodies. It's nice to mix it up items from your collection with the Big Ticket Basics stamps.

As you can see here on the left of the layout, we've got the "you & me" and calendar tickets from the new set. We've also got a cut from Wonderful Words: Hello positioned at a jaunty angle and embellished with stamps from Night, Night Moon. (There's a stamp set that needs dies, don't you think?) I also have a photo cut in the ticket shape. How nice is it that the die is large enough to accommodate a photo? Helps to add some variety to the layout.

On the right, we've got their names stamped in Blueberry Sky with the Headline alphabet and a glimpse of another stamp from Big Ticket Basics with the "You Make Me Smile". There is a scripty "you" included in the set that is intended to fill in the open space, but because I used a darker ink with the Blueberry Sky, I decided to pull a "you" from Simply You instead. I didn't want it to overlap into the blue.

There is also an adorable elephant from Bitty Baby Blessings to go with the theme. I turned him into a pull toy with a set of button wheels.

Next up, a card and a fun product match up that I'm sure you'll like.

It's funny, because on the DT board, we were asked this time to pick a ticket stamp to work with in order to show some variety. We all picked a different one. I think I have been better off if I picked one NOT to use.  I used just about every one! Easy to do when you are creating more of a collage/background element like in this card.

Here's a close up of the product mash up. Now remember, the Big Ticket Border die is open ended. Just like the original ticket die. This allows you to extend the length of the ticket border by readjusting and recutting. But making the edge ticket smaller (by positioning the die closer to the edge of the last die cut), you can make a shorter ticket. One that just happens to match up with the Framed Out #1 stamp set. See? It's not a perfect match, but definitely workable. So, on this card, I have three strips, each with a big ticket and a little ticket, which allows me to fill up the little tickets with all manner of fun stuff like Heart-2-Heart images, a Foodie Fun cake, and an additional sentiment. And what are those I spy in silver glitter paper but eight sided stars. How very curious. I wonder where those came from:)?

Liking what you see? Lots of fun, isn't it. There's more to see today, just click on over:

  5. I love how you used the tickets on the LO for different things, especially the photo!!! And I've got an older daughter and younger brother that I have to manage, too, and she is now very much in his face (at age 13 and he's 11) so I guess it has to happen at some point, LOL! What a fun collage card, too! Lots of great images and colors going on! TFS!
