2 Feet Deep and Kid Kudos Day 4

Group Post Day #1 for all of you Papertrey Ink peeps. We're previewing the September release and all the holiday goodness. Today we've got the enchantingly vintage 2 Feet Deep stamp set and dies. And then I've got a few Kid Kudos projects as well.  No need to delay any further, so...

...how about a tag made from a pair of crisscrossed snowshoes? I really love the theme of 2 Feet Deep and all the vintage winter sports goodness. I like how it is holiday-ish, but not overly so and can be used for any type of winter themed project.

I die cut two snowshoes out of Fine Linen cardstock and stamped in Classic Kraft ink. The lacings are heat embossed in white powder to really stand out. A sprig of evergreen really helps to finish it all off.  Take advantage here with the white embossing powder, because you have a valid excuse to be a little sloppy with it. The stray bits and pieces that are usually the bane of heat embossing can easily pass as snowflakes! How's that for making lemonade out of lemons:).

The snowshoe tag is strung through an eyelet and attached to an assembled Favor It Box 8. To "tie" my popper box together, I cut two bows out of Lizzie's new Double Bow Die using fabric treated with Heat N'Bond. (I recently did a MIM tutorial on Heat N' Bond which you can view here.)

Here's a close up of this divine  bow. LOVE. IT. In fact, I loved it so much out of fabric, there was an urgent supply run made to Joann's yesterday for more fabric. Hang in to the bottom of this blog post to find out how I was so very inspired! I'm in a bit of a bow making frenzy.

Next up, a card using 2 Feet Deep. My initial thought when I saw this set was to plant the skis in the snow, as if waiting to be used. Having grown up in a ski town, it is imagery that is deeply ingrained. All three sports represented in this set (sled, skis, snowshoes) could be used in this manner. And so, we have some snowshoes planted in a snowdrift created by the In the Meadow dies. I used Maile's new Holiday Cheer set to create a tree line in the background of the card. Very simple card, but the combination of elements creates a striking scene.

A close up of the heat embossed strings on the snowshoes. Match made in heaven!

Moving on to Kid Kudos, I'd thought I'd make a card that combines more than one sentiment on the front. Maile's new Grand Ampersand helps me out here tremendously. And Dawn's new BB: Stitching adds some zig zag interest to the bottom.  (Man...really loving this image by the way, this is like the third time I've used it!)

On Day 1 of Kid Kudos, I showed you the sentiment "I'm so glad I'm yours". Today we've got a slightly different twist--"I'm so glad you are mine". I say this all the time to my kids. It was a must have when designing the set.

Both sentiments are shown placed on PTI's Limitless Layers 1 3/4" circle dies and stamped with a lined treatment from Take Note. Just adds a bit of interest without being overpowering, particularly when done tone-on-tone like I did here.

And lastly, representing my bow-making love affair, we've got a little hair accessory. As if I could even resist. I used Lizzie's new Double Bow die to create this bow, but instead of folding over the little top flap, I trimmed it off and replaced it with a fabric covered button. OMGEEE!!!!!

The bow itself is a bit too big to double up on my Boutique Accessory Card die, but isn't quite big enough to stand alone without looking a bit lonely. To work this all to my advantage, I took the Fillable Frames #9 die and a border and sentiment from Fillable Frames Additions 2 and made myself a little tag. The "little girl" and treehouse (which is great just on its own) from Kid Kudos got stamped as well. My little girl is going to get this little treat today. :)

I'm not sure if you caught it or not, but I finally got around to an assembly video worked into a SAF video last month using both the Clever Barrette Covers and Boutique Accessory Card Die. My preferred method of assembling the Boutique Accessory Card Die can be found at the of the 11:20 time mark of the video.

And just a quick tip about the barrette. I didn't use the snap barrettes like you'd typically use if using the Clever Barrette Cover Dies. Instead, I used just plain white plastic barrettes. I purchased 100 in bulk on Etsy a few years ago for like $12. I've also have found them in smaller quantities at Michael's. Hot glue is used to adhere.

I'll be back tomorrow for more. Thanks for your enthusiasm and wonderful comments over the last few days. I love hearing my cell phone alert me to new email...makes me smile every time.

  6. I love your projects this month, but I also want to tell you how much fun I've been having stitching felt coffee cozies with my 19 year old son and his girlfriend, both product design majors at the University of Oregon. I'd love a half inch diameter circle patch and coordinating holes die to make centers for all the flower fusion dies too. Thanks a million for all your great inspiration!
