Day Two of Come All Ye Faithful + Additions and Featuring Stitching Lines

Back again for PTI's October Countdown and more mischievous fun with my trio of playful pups from my upcoming release of Come All Ye Faithful and Come All Ye Faithful Additions.  Thanks for all the enthusiastic comments yesterday! I'm thrilled that I was able to tickle some funny bones. Hopefully, with the antics today, I'll garner another giggle or two.

First up, we've got the Rottweiler/Boston Terrier decking the halls...or is he helping to undeck them? The dog, sweater, and sentiment is from the Come All Ye Faithful set. And like I mentioned yesterday, the Come All Ye Faithful Additions set has all the accessories for the dogs, so that's were the string of lights and bow tie can be found. He looks so dapper with that little bow tie! Dies for everything make him super easy to assemble and place in a scene.

I also used some favorite older products on this card. Both the Tree with Trimmings die and the Photo Finisher Strips with the lovely embossed lines are well loved in my craft room. You'd not be remiss in adding them to your collection. It is always especially fun to combine them with new products as well, such as the Confetti Garland Border Stamp and Die Collection I used to trim the tree. More on that this week.

Next up, we've got the dachshund dressed up as Santa. I went back and forth about adding a solid red coat with a black belt as a stamp to match up with the hat in Come All Ye Faithful Additions, but in the end, I just didn't have the room. Happy to say that the look is completely achievable without it. I stamped the dog body and one of his sweaters in red on a Stamper's Select White die cut. I didn't use the cuff stamp at all, but used the negative space created by the two stamps to represent the white trim on Santa's coat. A skinny strip of True Black cardstock make up his belt.

As for that sentiment, it can be found in the Additions set. I felt it was an absolutely necessity to include, considering we're dressing these dogs up for the holidays and that many of the other sentiments are taken from lines of classic Christmas carols. What's one more? It is pretty funny on its own. But what if we took it just a little further? I bet you are hearing the next few lines of "Deck the Halls" in your head. In any case, it allowed me to create some additional stamps I've been needing in my collection forever...

...such as these that I've included on the inside of this card. I cannot tell you how many times I've wished I had these lines from "Deck the Halls". The trick here, however, was making it read like it is being sung. So with the combination of font choice, size, punctuation, and arrangement, hopefully when one reads it, they hear the tune in their head. And it is as gleefully "holiday" as it is heard in mine.

Another neat feature of this "Deck the Halls" sentiment is that it comes in many parts. Each line is a separate stamp so you can stamp it in multiple colors if you choose. And when combined, it has the subway art look to it that is popular right now.

Of course, each individual element can be taken and used creatively as well. I repeatedly stamped and heat embossed in white the largest "LA!" stamp on Simply Chartreuse, Pure Poppy, and Blueberry Sky. Still very holiday. For an embellishment, I used one of the new Stitching Lines Dies to add a stitched detail to my holly, cut from Simply Chartreuse felt with the Holly Jolly die (another well used, well loved supply).  My first thought when designing these new Stitching Lines Dies was combining them with all the other dies I already have in my collection. A world of possibilities there, just waiting for a little creative time.

Now how about some more projects featuring those fabulous new Stitching Lines Dies? I mentioned yesterday that they come in eleven different lengths. They decrease by approximately 1/2" increments from the largest (approx. 5.5") to the smallest (approx. 1"). You can imagine just how much fun you can have with that type of versatility.

I wanted to team it up with my other felt project dies, such as Coffee Cozy Dies and the Clever Barrette Cover Dies. Here on my Smokey Shadow felt coffee cozy, I stitched in three rows of felt hearts (Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, and Ocean Tides) cut from the Heart Border die. I cut just the rows of stitching holes directly into the Smokey Shadow felt as well as each individual heart border.  It was easy to get the length I wanted with so many options in the Stitching Dies. Stitching them together was as easy as it gets.

Here's a close up. I absolutely adore the look of matching floss on the felt. Subtle, stylish texture.

Next up, the Clever Barrette Cover Dies with the Boutique Accessory Card. I wanted to show you that you can take all your existing dies and now use them to embellish your barrettes by just adding stitching holes. Let me give you a step by step run down of my process, so I can be as clear as possible with my directions.

  1. Die cut the Clever Barrette Covers out of Spring Moss felt. Die cut the scalloped layer out of Limeade Ice.
  2. In the top layer of the barrette, take the smallest Stitching Line Die and die cut the holes toward the wide portion of the shape.
  3. Die cut three Butterfly dies (per barrette, so a total of six) out of Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, and Terracotta Tile felt.
  4. One at a time and using the same Stitching Line Die, die cut holes into the felt butterflies.
  5. Layer the Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, and Terracotta Tile felt butterflies on the topmost layer of the Clever Barrette Cover die (Spring Moss). Stitch into place.
  6. Assemble the rest of the Clever Barrette Cover dies as you would normally. You have to lift the wings of the butterfly to get to the holes, but that's easy to do.
  7. Fluff the wings of assembled barrette to show off the layers of colors.

To show you more detail of the Stitching Lines in use on the butterfly, I flattened the wings before snapping this photo. You can use the same process to add many more shapes to the Clever Barrette Cover dies.

And lastly, just a card with the Stitching Lines added.  Here they indicate raindrops falling around an umbrella from Scattered Showers. I cut them out of a panel of Aqua Mist cardstock and backed them with Hawaiian Shores.  Because of the different lengths, it is easy to work around the silhouette of the umbrella to create this look.

Thanks for being patient with me today as I got this up a little late with my cold. :) More from me and these fun new sets tomorrow. All the new products featured on my blog today and yesterday are available to purchase on October 15th at And there is still more inspiration to see today, just a few clicks away:

  1. LOVE all of your projects today Erin! I giggled when I saw that string of lights in the pups mouth (as my sweet Labs would get into that kind of mischief ALL...THE...TIME). What a wonderfully fun set! I hope you have something up your sleeve like this for cat owners. I've had more than my fair share of kitties climbing the Christmas tree, sleeping under the tree, batting ornaments off the tree, etc. I no longer have any sweet puppies, but I have to say that your set is sorely tempting me.

Those stitching dies however, will be mine. So glad this is coming out now vs later! Hope you get to feeling better! Bronchitis is never fun so rest up best you can so you can start feeling like yourself.

  2. Love love love the stitching line dies! With or without stitching added. THANKS for all the different lengths. These will be so versatile and easy to use.

  3. Over the top creative with the new stitching dies, very clever. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Oh my gosh, adorable to completely fabulous...all in one post :)

  5. Wonderful examples of the stitching lines dies. Keep those darling barrett cover ideas coming please. Grandma needs 'em!

  6. I was drawn to the stitching dies, but my feeble brain couldn't imagine how to use them. NOW I know. Just love your fun creative brain. You are also probably the best thing to happen for Papertrey's wonderful felt and all the dies that can be used with it. Thanks for providing us with such fabulous and innovative tools to use!

  7. Wow! Lovely things you shared! I love the umbrella card with the stitching! Very cute!

  8. Great job this month and lots of work, I would imagine. Thanks so much. I love the Fa, la, la. I, too, have wished for that a few times.

  9. Fa la la la la AMAZING! I think I will be singing Christmas carols in my head all morning! :). Love all you have shown with these new products! You always bring a smile to my face! :)

  10. Love all your projects today, but have to tell you that yesterday and today's dog cards just cracked me up! And the Fa la la la la getting bigger made me think how our dogs start out barking not too loud to a full on bark and I thought it was just perfect! Thanks so much for all your inspiration! :0)

  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE the rain one! Great card!!!!

  12. I am loving all the new products. Besides the rain and FaLaLA, the Naughty or Nice card really grabbed me. So appropriate for a few friends I know!

  13. Wowow! They are all wonderful - since I live in L.A., the LA LA LA is for me.

  14. How exciting to see these creative projects! Love how you used the new dies/stamps. :)

  15. I love the cards. Thank you for all the projects using the stitch lines. They are amazing. Can see so much use out this die.

  16. Love the stitch lines. So many possibilities

  17. Beautiful seeing the use of felt, so pretty and unique!!

  18. Thank you for the inspiration with the barrettes. I love this look!

  19. I haven't used felt since the 70's, but I am diggin' all the felt. As the mom to four dogs, guess what is going to be my Christmas cards this year. LOL

  20. I really like the fa la la card and coffee cup holder - great ideas!
