Day 2 of It's A Banner Day + Dies!

We're back for another preview of the Papertrey Ink December Release. It's all about Valentine's and love this month, so I've got two quick projects showing off some lovey-dovey crafting today using my new dies. Between the two projects, I hope to show you how stitching dies can be some of the most versatile dies you can add to your collection. It's amazing the different looks you can create with them.

First up, you know I had to put the new Limitless Layers: Heart Stitches to use with my Coffee Cozy die. Here I used them to cut a heart with stitch holes out of Hibiscus Burst felt. I also cut a petite open scalloped border heart with the original Limitless Layers: Hearts in Vintage Cream felt. Next, I used the die from Limitless Layers: Heart Stitches to cut only the holes in Vintage Cream heart and the Pure Poppy felt of the Coffee Cozy die cut. This way, you can layer everything together and the holes will line up and you are good to go with sewing it together. Just like the lacing cards you had as a kid.

Here's a close up of all those beautiful stitches. The detail and precision is just gorgeous. Nobody will believe you handstitched it because it looks machine made. The hard work of placing the stitches is done for you with the dies.

Wondering how I added the phrase "Be Mine" to my felt? I had a little help from my Silhouette Cameo and their heat transfer material. Very easy to do. You could add any phrase you like because you cut it out with your machine.

Now we are going to switch gears from felt to paper, but still use the same dies. This is were you get the versatility and the most value for your crafting dollar. Once again, I first started out with my original Limitless Layers: Hearts and cut a petite scalloped edge heart out of Berry Sorbet cardstock. I next took the die from Limitless Layers: Hearts Stitches that cuts only the holes of this double bordered design (this is the first time you are seeing it!) and placed it directly over my Berry Sorbet cut and ran it through my die cut machine. This added the holes to the design. Just beautiful! By backing the die cut with colored cardstock, I could have different colors highlighted in the stitching holes.

Notice the red heart in the middle? That's a bit of a bonus with the new Limitless Layers: Heart Stitches dies. One I wasn't really planning on, but nicely surprised to have the option. There is a die that cuts both the holes and the shape of the double bordered heart and has an open window in the middle. You run it through and in getting the window, you also get the die cut heart that pops out. Love it.

A close up of all that lovely detail. The holes add so much. I also used just the die from It's a Banner Day to create my banner. The center is a different die that can be cut separately from the banner frame. In this case, I first cut the banner in Aqua Mist cardstock and then used the center die to cut the middle out. It's backed with a solid banner cut in white. Looks more like a frame. Another option for you.

Can you believe the same die sets were used for the felt project and the paper project? I'm really happy with the range of projects these items can be used on.

The sentiment is from Kid Kudos. Just about every one of the sentiments from that stamp set can be used for Valentine's Day cards as well, seeing as it is all about the love. Lots of versatility built in there too.

That's it from me today. These new dies and all the other PTI December goodies are available for purchase on December 15th at 10 PM EST at www.papertreyink.com. For more peeks and goodies, click on over to the other blogs in PTI world:
