Day 2 of the March Countdown

Time for some birthday inspiration with Papertrey Ink for the March release. I have several birthday products that are being released that I'm super excited about. All inspired by my mom, the ultimate cake decorator. I can always count on her to make the most amazing birthday cakes! It was something that so enchanted me as a little girl. I'd hang out in the kitchen and watch cakes come to life with pipping and colorful frosting. And if I was lucky, she'd pipe some frosting stars onto the top of my hand for me to lick off.

Just to show you how awesome she is, check out this cake she made for Hank's recent 8th birthday. It is a thing of wonder. I'm happy to say my kids are as thrilled with these creations as I was as a kid. It's not a birthday without a Nan cake.

Frosted Borders, Sprinkles on Top, and Fancy Pants Sentiments by Papertrey Ink.

Which such amazing inspiration, it was easy to come up with some products to help you create the look of these decorated cakes on a card. Here you can get a good look at two new products (and the new Fancy Pants Sentiments and Dies). We've got the Frosted Border Dies in Berry Sorbet with all that beautiful cut line detail I'm starting to become so very fond of made to look like piped frosting. And underneath, there is a sprinkle border using the new Sprinkles on Top stamps and dies!!!! These are so much fun! There are four different types of sprinkle borders and several little clusters of sprinkles (you can see a few on the sentiment) for adding sprinkles to your projects. Everything is better with sprinkles, right?

I'm using the star sprinkle border here. I want to make a special note of the exception on this particular stamp. This is the only sprinkle border where the sprinkles do not overlap. So it made sense to create a solid star sprinkle stamp to help fill them in. All the color you see is stamped. The other sprinkle borders have overlapping sprinkles, so you'd turn to other coloring techniques to add color to them. Imagine the look you could have with Copics. Which is a lot of fun to contemplate, right? Oh the possibilities.

And aren't those candles and smaller sentiment fabulous? I had fun stamping all that color. They are from Lizzie's fabulous Wishes Come True set, which looks great with all these new birthday products.

Sprinkles on Top, Big Birthday Candle Dies, and Frosted Borders by Papertrey Ink

How about another birthday card? We all need more birthday card ideas, right? We've got another cake card for you. This time I'm using my new Big Birthday Candle Dies. These are classic. I'm not sure about you, but I always try to make sure there are these on birthday cakes. Now you can add them to cards and make them in any color you want!

Gorgeous detail with the Frosted Border Dies and Sprinkles on Top by Papertrey Ink

I used Sprinkles on Top (Hawaiian Shores ink on Aqua Mist cardstock)  on the cake layers and covered up the edges with the Frosted Border Dies. Ink the edges of these for another look! The sentiment from Hooray is divided up between the layers. Fun, right?

Hope you are as excited as I am about these new products. And we all have my mom to thank...the best cake decorator around! I think her birthday card needs to be made with these items this year. HA!

  5. That Frosted Borders shell reminds me of the cake decorating my mom used to do. She did it around the bottom of almost every cake she made. And funny, my sister and I used to beg her to squeeze a line of stars on our fingers so we could lick them off - just like you! :) Great cake for Hank. Fun products!

  13. LOVE all your products this month. Will the Frosted Border Dies cut felt? I'm guessing maybe no as they are more intricate, but curious.
