Maybe this morning's post should be called "Ring Around the Rosie" as you all blog hop around the Papertrey Ink blogs for Rosie Posie's debut. Should be fun and inspiring.
We were asked this month to come up with an inspiration photo. I saw this one on Jennifer Ellefson's pinterest board and chose it without reading the details so much. Apparently she repinned if off my inspiration board! I tell ya, I don't know which way is up some days.
I really liked the vertical alignment on the elements and originally was going to try tor recreate it in my favorite folk art style. But then I discovered something--fold a piece of white cardstock in half and die cut the Rosie Posie stem and leaf, with the bottom on the stem slightly going beyond the fold. When cut, unfolded and both ends stamped (this works because the stamp is symmetrical), it almost has this damask design feel to it. Cool! The awesome hexagons from the set are a nice match up to Honey Bee and Honey Bee Sentiments. Nice to freshen those up!
For more of a focal point look with the rose and leaves, I took the same color scheme and created this card. I'm in love. I was originally just "in like" when I first got the stamp set, but once I stamped those roses on the die cuts and popped them up with dimensional adhesive, it was full on infatuation. And that Filigree Border die? You know how nice the edges are on the die cuts in general? That look is maximized due to all the daintiness of the fans--gorgeous.
That's it for me tonight. Make sure you do the "Ring Around the Rosie" and see what the other girls are up too with this stamp set.

I like the first card a lot. It is super creative and so out of your comfort zone. Great job, Erin! ;)ReplyDelete
I love your cards - they're gorgeous!! Now I want this set, too:)ReplyDelete
I love your use of the hexy background with the bee: that was my direction too (for when I finally get that set!!), and the filagree border in the light grey is just brilliant: a soft color that matches the softness of the filigree. You did an amazing job on both of your cards: thanks for the wonderful inspiration!!ReplyDelete
Love the cards and especially that color combination!ReplyDelete
