Coffee Cozy and Coffee Cozy Detail Dies Day 3

Here I am, back for more for Papertrey Ink's August release countdown. Today I'm going to focus on using just the Coffee Cozy Detail Collection dies. So many possibilities with these. I could create for a month and cover it all. I'm pacing myself and showing two projects today. I'm sure once we see everybody's release post on the 15th, new ideas will be spotted. I know with some of my release cards, I've put the dies to use in other ways too.

I've heard a good deal of buzz about whether or not the Coffee Cozy Detail Collection dies work on my Clever Barrette Covers. You bet they do! Here I've created a Halloween version using the stars, the Boutique Accessory Card dies, Boutique Accessory Stamps, and dies from the Mega Halloween Sweets and Treats Collection. Just add some bat wings and you've got a whole new look.

Here's a close up of my star. I stitched two of them together and added some Poly-fil in between, so they are super puffy. They are the most adorable little things. I want to make a whole jar of them just for display. And the hearts would be adorable for Valentine's.

For making puffy stars, stitch two stars cut from the Coffee Cozy Details Collection dies 2/3's of the way around and stuff with the Poly-fil, using a handle of a spoon to get it in there. Then just stitch up the rest of the way. After your Clever Barrette Covers are sewn, attach stars with hot glue.

I found the most appropriate little accent sentiment for the Boutique Accessory Card on Spooky Sweets II. The last line of one of the stacked sentiments is "spooktacular sweetness". With just a little masking, you can add this sweet little line to your Halloween barrette presentation. So adorable.

Next up, I created a gift bag using a muslin sack from the store. This is a great chance to see all three shapes from the Coffee Cozy Detail Collection lined up together. I cut each shape out of felt and stitched into place on the muslin. I didn't need to use the "hole dies" because the muslin was easy enough to push a needle through. The holes in the shapes themselves kept me on track making those nice, even stitches.

I said previously that these little felt projects are great to do as "busy work" when you are waiting, watching television, or in my case, supervising children. I sat in the armchair in the playroom and kept an eye on the baby while making this little project. He was happy, I was happy. I can't stamp under the same conditions, so it is nice to do something hobby related while being present and "on duty" in a different situation.

A close up of all this stitched felt goodness. Ahhhhh...makes me so happy to be crafty like this without a lot of stress. So very easy and the payoff is huge. Seriously, how cute is this bag?

That's it for me today. Looks like the Coffee Cozy and Coffee Cozy Detail Dies will be making a splash for a group post over the next few days. So excited!

  1. Wow Erin! What a huge month for you! First the wonderful barrettes, now this coffee cozy and details dies! I just love working with felt and these detail dies are awesome! I can see using them on all kinds of projects - like pincushions, tags, little penny rugs, etc. Only problem is - we need MORE shapes! I hope they are scheduled for the future. I know - never enough - but these are a great start! Thanks so much for these innovative products!
