Directions. Pesky little things those directions. Typically I'm stellar at following them and equally stellar at knowing when to toss them out the window and improvise. The later, totally throws the hubby for a loop, especially when I hand him a recipe I've made a million times and tell him to just "eyeball" most of it. My man just doesn't understand the concept.
But it seems lately, that I've fallen down on the job of following directions a bit. I've misplaced library books. I've forgotten to pick up groceries that were on the list I was holding in my hand. I've showed up to doctor's appointments on the wrong day. Twice. And lastly, I failed to read on the PTI assignments this month that I was supposed to create a card along with my calendar project. I swear I'm losing my mind.
When begging for forgiveness, I find it useful to blame somebody else. Or flash a picture of a baby or a puppy dog up to distract people. Seeing as it's my 13 week old whom I'm throwing under the blame bus and therefore using both strategies, I should get extra forgiveness. Ah, finally the cracks in the armor are showing!:) Super Mom does not live at my house.
Here's the little miscreant herself. All 16 pounds, 4 ounces of her. 100th percentile people. She'll beat you up if you give her momma any trouble.
But my oops! is your bonus. I'm going to post my card right now. For all you last minute people who are still trying to figure out your list for tonight. On the fence about that calendar die? Well...I find it works great on cards too. Tickled pink (and not just from the embarrassment of screwing up an assigment) that it turned out so well.
Happy shopping tonight! Got to go get all the Vario tabs out of Hank's hair. He stole him off my desk while I was trying to write up something clever:). I believe that whole "balance" concept is a urban myth.

I love the card, but I fear it is overshadowed by your bodyguard. That scowl is priceless, by the time she's 13 it'll be practiced to perfection lol. TFS :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the card--it's lovely! But oh my gosh! Your cutie! That little chin in the middle of those cheeks! I can't stand it! I don't know how you new moms get ANYTHING done, so you're forgiven for everything.
ReplyDeleteI agree - the card is cute but the adorable little body guard does have it beat! Thanks for the idea and get some sleep!
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a cutie! I love those cheeks and that face. Thanks for the card and for letting us know that you are just like the rest of us. I forget still and my baby is 7 months old now. Can I still be excused?
ReplyDeleteLOL, now THAT is a "look"!!! My daughter used to have a look like that, scared the bejeebins out of me ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your card Erin, the circles are lined up so perfectly with the slots, not sure how you did that but it looks GREAT!
I love visiting your blog, your projects & cards are always so creative, and you think outside the box on ways to use stamps, etc. That being said, all is forgiven when you're a new mom, gee my youngest is 19 and I still do things like you described!! I attribute it to old age, though! haha! Your daughter is just too cute, love that look and those squishy little cheeks that I would be kissing all the time! Like I said, I love visiting your blog! :) -Lisa Beeman
ReplyDeleteBut...you made the magnet thingy...that's sooo much cooler than a card! Pfft! Your baby girl is precious by the way. A true little beauty. Love your blog although for some reason I can't follow using Google homepage. I must be doing something wrong...
ReplyDeleteWhen a mom shares a photo like that, she can be forgiven anything.
ReplyDeleteI was just stopping by to tell you how much I adore the Peace Be Still tags in the gallery. They are wonderful. My favorite is the Christmas tree tag.
Back to look through the gallery even though I should be doing something else and will end up paying a huge price. And I'll probably beat myself up about it, too. Maybe I should just place myself in close proximity to your bodyguard!
Oh so CUTE!
ReplyDeleteHow COOL is this card! Great combinaton of the background basics Christmas stamping with the calender die! Lovely! Thanks for sharing when you did!
ReplyDeleteThe card is great but your sweet little girl is so stinkin' adorable! My 3.5 year old was 100th percentile on weight for the first year but is sitting in the 70s now. Chubby little girls melt my heart!
ReplyDeleteHa! Most disconcerting little "miscreant". Who could not love those chubby cheeks or that gorgeous card?!! You always do "think outside the box" Erin. Now I'm wanting that die even more:)
ReplyDeleteBeen hoping for a new pic of Eliza! Precious! The card is not bad either...
ReplyDeleteDarling little girl. Congratulations. How about a "subscribe by email" button on your site? Take care.
ReplyDeletekudos to you for a beautiful baby and a beautiful card! Mostly I appreciate your ability to laugh at yourself and continue moving forward. I'm sure during some of those moments, it was not so funny, but knowing that 'those moments' are just part of the 'joys' of motherhood! I think I struggled with trying to make everything perfect when mine were little, and not taking enough time to cherish the small things, take in every single moment, it goes too, too quickly! Julia P.
ReplyDeleteI think if the baby beat anyone up, it would be the most adorable smack down ever given!!! She could have my lunch money any day of the week!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLaughing out Loud! I LOVE the picture of your cute body guard! The card's nice too, but she's the one that got the belly laugh! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteActually, your booboo is my serendipity as I really wanted to know if that die worked on cards. And it does. Beautifully.
ReplyDeletePS my kid beats your kid. We were off the charts in both height and weight...(mama is 5'9", papa 6'6" - DD is predicted to hit over 6'...) Now at 4, she wears 7-8yr old clothes for the length. Which makes it a nightmare to shop for. There is very litle that is acceptable in that range for a 4 yr old ( saying that, she wouldn't get to wear it at 8 either...)!
You make me laugh and sigh! Your prose is always so humorous....perhaps because it strikes so CLOSE to home (ok, how many times have I been up at 3am to finish an assignment I completely forgot about? nope, don't ask!). AND your creativity is AMAZING! LOVE your card. You rock, woman!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how wonderful is your baby girl? Love this photo. You are forgiven for anything.
ReplyDeleteKathy T
LOL! What a cute expression.
ReplyDeleteYou're still amazing for getting this done! When I had only 2 I could still do it all-now, after 4 I'm lucky if anyone has clean laundry!
