Alpha-blocks

I have a great project for you tonight using Papertrey Ink's new Alpha-blocks stamp set. I remember being a little girl and visiting my grandmother. She'd take me to this mall in Venice, California and there was this store that sold Mrs. Grossman's stickers. And because I was with Grandma, I could get some. I even had a sticker book. I loved that thing. Looking back, I've got to ask myself, what is the point of a sticker book in the first place? I guess it boiled down to being a kid and a sticker book being one of the many things that made me happy. Sometimes there doesn't need to be a point beyond that.

With that in mind, I wanted to create a sticker themed project for a few kids in my life. I originally saw the idea of a sticker sheet used as a card front in a Becky Higgins' card book. With Alpha-blocks and the matching Alpha-blocks die, as well as PTI's White Adhesive Sheets, I was able to take the idea a bit further by making a sticker sheet featuring the special kid's name.

Let's talk construction. The sticker sheet has the dimensions of 5x7 inches. I cut and scored my paper to accommodate the sticker sheet in an open pocket. I used the Library Card Tag die to cut a window in front. If you don't have one, no biggie. It is easy to cut with an Exact-o Knife. I'm liking how the die creates rounded corners, however.

You have to actually create the pocket without adhesive to run it through your die cut machine. The back does get embossed with the shadow of the die, but it doesn't matter because it will be adhered to a 5x7 card. And I found that by folding the paper, the die stays in place better.

Slide a 5x7 cut transparency with Alpha-block stamp/ die cut pieces attached with your favorite adhesive through the pocket.

Hank's probably a year to 18 months out from appreciating this, but I'm glad I have it on hand when I need a quick pick me up. Lisa's new Ad Sense die should really be renamed Mat Stack #6. It works great in that capacity. I used it in the same capacity with the Limitless Labels dies. And isn't that little "Limited Edition" stamp and die just the best touch? I will be using that on lots of projects for sure.

Here's the inside. A nice affirmation when a child needs a little pick me up. All About You, Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger, It's Official, and Ad Sense used here as well.

Hank's name is spelled out five times on the adhesive sheets. I adhered them to transparency with my ATG gun. The backing stays, the sticker comes off. He can put the stickers anywhere he wants...I'm just hoping he chooses paper instead of my furniture.

Seeing as it nice to see an alternative to the main project, how about a birthday card in a different direction for a girl.

The accent in the corner using Beautiful Blooms Dies #3 (my fav, in case you haven't guessed yet) with Hawaiian Shores, Royal Velvet, Raspberry Fizz, and True Black PTI  felt. Looks like just an accent, but it is a two-fer. Sophia can take the clip off and use it on her backpack or whatever else her little heart desires.

Again, it is nice to embellish the inside of the card. Thanks to Inside/Out: Birthday and Beautiful Blooms II for helping me out here.

Be sure to chekc out the other PTI blogs tonight for further inspiration using the new Alpha-blocks stamp set.

  10. You are so very creative and think outside the box, Erin! Genius! My kids had sticker books too, growing up. It was their "collection" and my first-born dd, who is almost 31, still loves and collects all things Hello Kitty! I love your heart for kids projects. My granddaughter will be two in June and you have given me so much inspiration for the things I can make for her!
