For the Love of Fall

I am a summer girl through and through. As far as I am concerned, there is only around five months of the year worth getting excited about...and those are when it is warm enough to wear flip flops and shorts and hit the pool. Ironic, since I grew up in a ski town and it once snowed on my birthday  (July 4th).

But I will admit, the first few months of fall aren't too bad. Occasionally there is still a warm enough day where I can take the kids up to the lake to play in the water as late as mid-October. I like sitting in a lawn chair with my feet in the sand and being blown away by the reflection of the blaze colored leaves on the flat surface of the water. The moment is so very brief that you are able to really treasure it while in the middle of the experience.

I Love Fall Card

I got a little carried away yesterday when thinking about fall. Mostly because the only alternative is to cry when I think about the pool closing in three weeks. :( Focus on the positive. I've seen a lot of pins lately on Pinterest that list "fall" things that make people happy. I decided to do that on this card.

I Love Fall Card Close Up

The big love is from Love Notes and I inked up the solid step in Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile, and Scarlet Jewel. I then took stamps from both the Monthly Moments: September and October sets to create the word collage around it. Springs, leaves, and flowers are from Twig Wreath.

Of course, we've got some Chicken Scratch going on with the True Black sheet from the Autumn Chicken Scratch Pattern Paper on the bottom. It is sponged with Simply Chartreuse and Aqua Mist inks. And to count at Chicken Scratch Project # 17 (whoo whoo!) with a few stamps from the Chicken Scratch stamp set making up a border in the word collage.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments over the last few days. Ya'll are great! And I'll see you back here tomorrow with a little somethin' something':).

All products on the card, if not already available, will be for sale tomorrow night at www.papertreyink.com at 10 PM EST if you are interested in crafting with them yourself.

  1. Erin. This has to be the most fabulous use of multiple sets I've ever seen! Your chicken scratch as gotten a hold of my brain and heart, and won't let go. There is so much detail in this beauty, and yet the feel is warm, homey, and uncomplicated. What a load of inspiration from an amazing artist.

  8. I really need to thank you for getting me out of my box. I love my stitch kits. Of course I get confused, but you always have a very helpful video to help me out. Your Quick Stitch line is so easy and fun that you can do it in front of the TV and don't feel like you are holded up in the craft room. I am so glad you are coming out with something for Christmas. I can definitely see this as an automatic go-to stamp set. I just bought my first home on my own and there's no community property in here. It's all Cindy's and I'm going to use your kits to give out presents to my baby to toddler family members and I'm envisioning my tree right now and also making great gifts for my friends. Kudos to you Erin!
