I've got two new Pretty Cover Plate cards for you today. Both use just pieces from the cover plate instead of the whole, leaving the others to be used on other projects. Sometimes, one or two is all you need.
This card uses the second and inner most frames of the Pretty Cover Plate. I cut the one out of Lovely Lady (YAY for new colors!!!!!) and the inner most panel was cut out of Dawn's new Peonies on Parade Coloring Sheets. (Oh man, these things are great. I'm very much hooked. Great for an easy creative fix when you need one.) Because of the open aperture of the frame die, I could position it where ever I wanted on the coloring sheet. I turned it this way and that before I cut. It ended up being turned a full 90 degrees on the sheet to get this look. I then colored it with Copics to keep myself busy and happy during the Super Bowl:).
Both of these cuts were positioned on a True Black card front. I stamped an image from the 2015 Birthday Tags on Aqua Mist cardstock and mounted on a vellum cut of Limitless Layers Ovals. Very mailable and stylish card.
Next up, using the Pretty Cover Plate again, I wanted to show how the outer most frame could be used with all your other existing cover plates to give a contrasting frame of color along the edge. In this case, I used Sweet Blush card stock to frame out a Stormy Seas cut of the Peony Cover Plate. Sweet Blush, Melon Berry, and Mint Julep inks are sponged onto a white card base to highlight areas of the peony. Stacked Sentiments helps me out by providing a stylish sentiment in a fade from Soft Stone to Stormy Seas.
Thanks for joining me today. Head back to Nichole's blog to see more inspiration from the products being featured today. And I'll be back tomorrow with more cards.
If you are interested in adding any of these products to your collection, the new February release is available at www.papertreyink.com at 10 PM EST, Feb 15th.

Amazing, Erin. Seriously! I love both cards and how you highlighted using just bits of the frame coverplates to make beautiful cards - and really, pretty easily. Pretty + easy? I'm in!! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the cover plates together! And the sponged peonies behind the main cover plate die! Pretty
ReplyDeleteLike your use of the cover plates! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLike your use of the cover plates! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLovely, but how do you get your Peony coverplate to cut through? I have used it so many times and hardly ever get a good clean cut throughout the whole coverplate. I shim and shim and still the middle portion never seems to cut completely. Do you have any suggestions? Could I have a defective coverplate or is there some secret to getting it to cut well?
ReplyDeleteIf you feel like you have a die that isn't' working, your best bet is to contact Customer Service. Good luck!
DeleteDid you use a dryer sheet when you cut yours, or..........now I'm a little worried to buy it.

I love both of your cards. I have to buy the new border cover plate! Very nice job showcasing ways to use it.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the second card with a muted pastel background. The card has a stained glass appearance. I wonder what it would look like with a glaze... Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteErin, I've been admiring this peony die for so long now, you've just tipped me over the edge into I definitely need to buy this now with the beautiful colors you used in your card! Did you know these were the colors that Christian Dior used in his Atelier? He loved them because they reminded him of the colors from the home he grew up in.
ReplyDeleteLovely colour choices Erin.
