New Halloween Stitching Dies

It's the last group post day at Papertrey Ink for the August release. My new stitching dies are being featured. Cannot wait to see what the girls do with them. Always a treat and very inspiring. I might get stitch-y some more in the next few days. I would love to give tons of sweet felt Halloween gifts to everyone I know.

New Stitching Dies for August 2016 by Papertrey Ink

Today, I wanted to create a tabletop display featuring the dies in lots of different small projects. Create a whole display yourself or choose one or two projects as inspiration. I think this grouping would look really sweet on a console table.

Stitched Witch Boot plant stakes by Papertrey Ink

Let's focus on the Stitched Witch Boots, the only new stitching dies you haven't seen yet. How adorable are these? I'm just thrilled to be able to create with them. Lots of layers, lots of colors. Witch boots are one of my favorite Halloween themes. They can be used so many different ways. Here I have them sticking out of a small plant as plant stakes, at a jaunty angle. Would make a great grown up gift for Halloween. Calorie free.

Halloween pencils as plant stakes.

The "legs" are super easy. Just themed pencils, which are readily available this time of year. I just hot glued them on the backs of the boots and stuck them in my flower pot.

Stitched Circle Hole Dies and Stitched Witch Hat by Papertrey Ink

Next up, some Hoopla projects. These are perfect for gift giving at Halloween. Just a little thoughtful something that can be used year after year. On this little display, I used a three inch hoop. Before I put the felt directly in it, I used the Stitched Circle Holes Dies to cut the holes for just the circle as well as the "holes-only" die for the Stitched Witch Hat. You could make a whole series of seven like these for a whole display. Nine if you used the previously released Along Came a Spider and Stitched Pumpkin Face. It would be adorable.

Stitched Beaded Cauldron, Stitched Bat, and Stitched Candy Corn by Papertrey Ink

Next up, a large Hoopla option for you that could not be any easier. I used the Stitched Beaded Cauldron, Stitched Candy Corn, and Stitched Bat and sewed them onto paper tags using the Made-In-Minute Dies and Tag Sale # 10. They are just hot glued onto the fabric backing of the hoop.

No sew Hoopla pocket.

To create a simple pocket that you can slip your tags into on a hoop project,  fold over some fabric before you add the hoop. It gives a finished edge for very little effort.

Stitched Moon and Stars on Pint Sized Wrap Dies by Papertrey Ink

And lastly, a "snow globe" like project to leave out. Instead of using the Plain Pint Containers covered with the Pint Sized Wrap as a disposable food container, I choose to add a little stitching with the Stitched Moon and Stars dies to make it more of a decor piece.  I had so much fun creating the Petite Places Spook Manor Topper. These things are so adorable, they are meant to be displayed.

Petite Places: Spook Manor, Pint Sized Wrap Dies, and Stitched Moon and Stars

In order to make some of the filler on the Petite Places globe match the felt on the container, I cut leaves out of Summer Sunrise and Orange Zest felt from Shaker Shapes: Pumpkin. The perfect size! So cute. And helps tie it all together.

I hope you've enjoyed all the cozy felt Halloween projects. The dies are really affordable due to their small size. The small size also translates to quick and easy projects and lots of mixing and matching with all sorts of other dies and mediums. Quite fun to work with.

The girls have done wonders with them. Amy's penny rug? Laurie's adorable banner? And all the rest. My head is spinning. AMAZING. Got to make myself one of those! You can link to all the projects on Nichole's blog

All the new dies will be available on August 15th at 10 PM EST at www.papertreyink.com. Thanks for keeping me company this week. And you know you'll see me back next month when we start with all the Christmas projects. I've been a very busy girl. :)

Halloween Accessories

Still stitching away here with my seven new Halloween stitching dies from Papertrey Ink. Revisiting a few old favorites today to create items for both big and little girls, so you can see how these new dies work with items you might already have in your stash.

Accessories made with Stitching Dies from Papertrey Ink

I busted out the Boutique Accessory Card and Clever Barrette Covers (the dies that started it all!) to create this trio of accessories to gift out for the holiday. I love that after all this time, these older products still can be created with and updated with the latest of the stitching dies. I always keep longevity and compatibility in mind when creating.

The Boutique Accessory Card is stamped with Tiny Treats: Halloween, both the appropriate image and sentiment in a tone-on-tone look. And  I spy a new die there, all blinged out with sequins.

Beaded Cauldron broach and Boutique Accessory Card by Papertrey Ink

Check out this Stitched Beaded Cauldron broach that I'm gifting to my kids' teachers this fall! This die is designed to be used with 8 mm sequins and 8/O seed beads, which are my standard with any type of beading dies. (Originally used them on Beaded Holiday Stitch Kit.) The sequins are the "bubbling poison" in the cauldron. How fun is that? Nothing to be afraid of, the beading is fun and easy to do.

I added a spider embellishment that I picked up at Joann's. It was found in the button department and has a flat back. Perfect. I've seen little bat, skull, and bone buttons, too. You don't need any of these items to make the Stitched Beaded Cauldron look adorable, but it sure is fun to embellish..

A couple notes on creating the broach. You'll want to hide all the messy stitching on the back of your project. Or at least, I did. I thought about it for a few days and came up with this solution.

Back of broach tip.

You want to create a layer that doesn't have stitching holes. Tricky, I bet you're thinking.
Not so much. Just layer two pieces of cardstock and cut the large base die in your die cutting machine.

Back of broach tip.

You end up with two pieces, like this. The bottom most layer of cardstock will cut the shape, but the holes won't pop out.

Back of broach tip.

Glue this piece on the back of your project and hide all that messiness.

Back of Stitched Cauldron Broach

Then all you have to do is hot glue a pin back on to the back. All ready to go. Going to look so cute on a cardigan this fall. I'm going to make one for myself.

Stitched Bat, Clever Barrette Dies, and Boutique Accessory Card by Papertrey Ink

Next up, a few items for the little girls. The Stitched Bat has two layers. You can choose to add a "body" to the "wing span" for an additional detail. The "body" die also has a "holes-only" version, so you can sew these adorable bats to the Clever Barrette Cover. My Eliza already has her eye on these.

Stitched Candy Corn and Along Came a Spider Dies by Papertrey Ink

Next up, I have a Halloween headband. I stitched up. three Stitched Candy Corn and one Along Came a Spider (previously released) to embellish a black satin headband. Instead of adding the stitched felt layer to the body of the spider, I used Royal Velvet Buttons.

Another view of this adorableness. Eliza loves this one too. It looks great on her little blond head.

Layering of Stitched Candy Corn

A visual for you so you can see how I assembled these pieces before hot gluing them to the headband. The top and bottom layers are felt, but sandwiched between them are two layers of cardstock. Gives it a nice sturdiness and heft.

That's it for me.My hubby has been out of town all week, so I'll be taking a little break for tomorrow. But watch out for Day 5, I'm saving some fun stuff for the last day. All these products can be found on August 15th at 10 PM EST at www.papertreyink.com. More inspiration can be found today at Nichole's blog. Thanks for stopping by.

Halloween Coffee Cozies

Back again for the August 2016 Papertrey Ink with an old favorite embellished in new ways. Felt coffee cozies with spooky Halloween designs are a perfect way to give a "grown up" treat on October 31st. Especially for those who turn into monsters without their daily dose of caffeine. Not that I personally know anybody like that. LOL!

Halloween Coffee Cozy Die Embellished with 2016 Halloween Stitching Dies by Papertrey Ink

I could make new coffee cozies all day long. They are the perfect sized project and so open ended with how you want to embellish them. Several of the new Halloween stitching dies work very well on the Stitched Coffee Cozy, as you can see.

Going from top to bottom, you've got the Stitched Witch Hat, which you peeked yesterday. I pulled a bit of another new die into embellish it. The three sizes of a sketched star are included in the Stitched Moon and Star Dies. They are individual dies, so they can be moved around in all sorts of ways. Really a must have, not only for felt projects but would look darling on a paper project. Hope to get one of those done this week too.

I used the Stitched Candy Corn on the middle coffee cozy. The Tiny Stitched Alphabet was used to spell out "boo" and they were the perfect size for the middle of the candy corn. What else do you think you might want to spell out this way?

And on the bottom, a glimpse of a new die, Stitched Bat. I got a real kick of using the Tiny Stitched Alphabet to add the words "dark brew" to this coffee cozy. Could not have been more perfect.

That's it for me today. I'm busy stitching away at more new stuff. Looking forward to showing you more.

All these new dies will be available at www.papertreyink.com on August 19th, 2016 at 10 PM EST. And the Stitched Coffee Cozy is available now right here. It's a fun one. Also works great with paper without any stitching involved!

More inspiration can be found at Nichole's blog here. See you tomorrow.

Halloween Stitching Dies for 2016!

Hey everybody! Hope you are enjoying your summer. Hard to believe we are now thinking about fall holidays and are only a month away from Christmas releases. Crazy time in PTI land. I'm not exactly mentally ready for heading into fall, being a summer baby myself. But it is sure fun to try getting in the right state of mind with new fall products with the August 2016 PTI release.

New Halloween Stitching Dies for the September 2016 Papertrey Ink Release

I've got seven (7!!!!) new stitching dies for Halloween this year. No big projects, but rather motif dies that you can add to other things already in your stash. They were a lot of fun to come up with and now are even more fun to create with. Just the right size to add a cute little felt something to a card or project without requiring a lot of time. Hope you like them as much as I do.

Untitled

First up, we've got Stitched Little Ghost die on a Stitched Coin Purse II bag cut out of Royal Velvet felt. How stinkin' cute is this little guy? I'm so tickled with him. He's holding a little jack-o-lantern treat sack. There are options to leave that off as well, so you have two looks for Little Ghost. But I'm thinking he's going to be holding it a lot. The detail is just over the top.

Here's a tutorial on how the Stitched Coin Purse II goes together. Works up really quick, especially if you do a simple running stitch like I did on this example. I picked up the 3/4" metallic trim ribbon from Joann's. I felt I needed a little spooky shine to finish it off.

Stitched Witch Hat, Superstition Stamp Set, Cat's Meow Stamp Set, Awning Cover Plate by Papertrey Ink

Like I said previously, there are several stitching dies this month that are on the smaller side. Perfect for adding little felt touches to cards without needing to spend a lot of time. I found that the Stitched Witch Hat looks really cute perched on top of the cat from A Cat's Meow. Adorable. And I cut and sewed just the treat sack from Stitched Little Ghost to go beside kitty. For the handle, I left enough floss to make a loop. Easy.

Also at work here is the Awning Cover Plate from last month. With the additional detail dies, it is easy to create a multi-colored awning. And I used a sentiment and candies from Superstition, my previously released stamp set about cats and Halloween.

Stitched Witch Hat works nicely with Cat's Meow Stamp Set by Papertrey Ink

I just wanted to mention what I did here with the Stitched Witch Hat. I cut a base layer out of True Black cardstock. I sewed my felt onto that. This way, I could manipulate and move the hat more like a pre-made embellishment on my project. It keeps its form due to the cardstock base. I'll be doing this a lot in the future. Sew up a bunch of little detail felt pieces when you have time and add them to your projects as you make them.

Stitched Candy Corn Die, Stitched Coasters, and Trick or Treat Trio dies by Papertrey Ink

Who else is as excited by little felt candy corns as I am? Such a sweet petite size at 1-3/4" by 1". One of these added to a simple card like this is all you need to make an eye-catching project. Trick-or-Treat Trio Dies and Stitched Coaster Dies was all I needed in addition. So adorable.

Lots more to come, I've been a busy crafter:). Hope you'll be delighted with these new dies like I am. If you are interested in adding them to your collection, they'll be available on August 15th at 10 PM EST at www.papertrey.com. There's plenty of time to get your spooky crafting on.

Of course, more inspiration everyday this week can be found on Nichole's blog. Lots of great fall crafting goodies are coming your way!
